When Lana Del Rey came up with the song “Summertime Sadness” I felt so understood that only by this title she had me… When it’s summer I can’t help but feel a little blue, even though the season calls us for the complete opposite.
When we live in Europe summer is a big event, I mean in Brazil too but because of the cold winter in Europe the expectation for the hot summer days is bigger and events pop all over. People mood change, days get really long (in Brazil we have sun max until 19h whilst here we have until 22h or even more!).
Anyways, something about melting away, dressing down, having longer days and feeling lazy with the hot and this urge to hang on a terrace or by water every day makes me a bit blue. I feel like this urge to enjoy, to travel, to participate in all the events… But real life continues and you have to clean, pay bills, go to work and this duality is what hits me a bit.
Of course I enjoy a lot and I feel happy to have daylight until 22h and be able to do lots of things before going to bed, and of course that I feel contaminated by all the happiness but this buzz has its ups and downs. I gotta say that I prefer mid seasons (Autumn is my ultimate) and the beginning of summer. I don’t feel all the sadness most Europeans feel during winter too; I just love having all the season – which is something we don’t have in Brazil.
My trick for summer blues? Nothing really special, I tried to let it go, I seize it the best way possible by doing activities I love (skating, reading, blogging, beer with friends…) – after all I know that autumn is coming one day or another, so why not?
How about you? Do you feel summer blues? Why and what do you do with it?
To meet the theme, I am showing here a total blue look. I love blue, it’s my all time favorite color. One color looks (playing with tons) are one of my “go-to” ideas when I have no inspiration or no time to think about my outfit of the day.
I am using here an oversized Polo Shirt I fell in love with the very first time I saw, with the stripes and all… Some jeans that are a bit too slim for my like, I feel my hips get really exposed with them but I customized them by cutting the hems. I paired it with these leather boots, my last purchase during summer sales, with a very Saint Laurent vibe. To pop some color a green watch and to complete this clutch bag that is not super practical but I love it so much.
It works because the proportions are good, the oversized polo breaks the slim of the jeans and the jeans showcase the boots. One color looks make us elongated and the colorful watch brings some fun.
